Last week, Subaru unveiled the 2025 Forester, their new sixth-generation SUV. Quieter and more responsive than previous iterations, this edition of the Forester embodies the term “all-new.” The exterior frame features new sheet metal and a stiffer chassis, while the redesigned interior includes more spacious headroom than ever and is equipped with a larger infotainment system.

Before the compact SUV begins reaching U.S. dealerships in spring of 2024, let’s check out what else is new with this reimagined offering from Subaru.

New and Improved

The Forester recognizes that when you purchase an SUV, you expect two things above all else: convenience and safety. Entry is less cumbersome than ever thanks to remote keyless entry and “welcome lights” that shine a beam of light at the exterior door handles at night. The hands-free, foot-activated Power Rear Gate makes grocery shopping and other errands effortless, while Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive, 8.7 inches of ground clearance, and all-weather capabilities ensure a safe, smooth drive.

Available for the first time with the Forester, the SUBARU STARLINK ® Multimedia system includes the newly available 11.6-inch, high-resolution infotainment screen. Additionally, wireless play is compatible with Apple and Android devices, keeping you effortlessly connected.

With an eye-catching new grille, stylish LED headlights, and a new, muscular design, the Forester has been redesigned inside and out to prove that a compact SUV can meet all your safety concerns while still exceeding expectations when it comes to style and performance.

Continuing the Legacy

While the 2025 Forester is a dramatic redesign from an aesthetic standpoint, underneath the hood you’ll find the same components that have given the Forester its reputation and made it such a long-running success. The 2.5-liter flat-four engine carries over, as does all-wheel drive and improved off-road capabilities.

Despite its economic size, the two-row, five-passenger Forester comes equipped with more passenger room than ever before. And for further personalization, it comes in five available trims: Basic, Premium, Limited, Sport, & Touring. And while the Wilderness trim hasn’t been announced for the 2025 Forester yet, we’d expect an announcement on the Wilderness’s return within the year.

Eyes on the Prize

Safety is paramount when it comes to SUV drivers’ most pressing concerns, and the 2025 Forrester comes with the latest in EyeSight Driver Assist technology. Its features include:

Emergency Stop Assist: if the driver becomes unresponsive to warnings while using Advanced Adaptive Cruise Control, the vehicle will come to a stop, put on its hazard lights, and unlock the doors. SUBARU STARLINK ® Connected Services will then put in a call to an emergency outlet.

Rear Seat Reminder: alerts driver to check the rear seat before exiting a vehicle, preventing child and pet entrapment.

Automatic Emergency Steering: works in conjunction with EyeSight and Blind-Spot Detection to aid with steering control when a possibly imminent collision is detected in lanes with speeds slower than 50 miles per hour.
