On Monday, Subaru of America, Inc. announced an expansion of its Subaru Loves to Help® initiative. This winter, Subaru is teaming up with Operation Warm, a national nonprofit that provides brand-new, high-quality clothing for children experiencing homelessness and other urgent need situations.
Subaru is no stranger to philanthropic endeavors such as these. In addition to Operation Warm, they’ve teamed with Meals on Wheels, the American Red Cross, and more. Read on for more on Subaru’s charitable past, and what they hope to accomplish with Subaru Loves to Help’s latest partnership.
Bringing the Love This February
February is Subaru Loves to Help month, in which Subaru will partner with Operation Warm to supply children in need with new coats, socks, and shoes. During the first year of the partnership, Subaru and its national retailers will organize donation events with shelters and other support agencies.
In all, they hope to supply over 150,000 children with essential clothing. Subaru Loves to Help notes that such clothing is not only a physical necessity but tied to children’s mental and emotional well-being and development. Having weather-appropriate clothing should never be the difference between a child attending or missing school, and Subaru’s hope is that no child will have to face such circumstances.
“Coats, shoes, and socks provide so much more than just physical warmth, and programs like this are giving kids in urgent need the relief and confidence to socialize and succeed,” said Grace Sica, Executive Director of Operation Warm. “Teaming up with Subaru, who clearly shares our values of community connection, allows us to bring warmth and confidence to even more children around the country than ever before.”
A History of Care
Subaru immediately becomes the largest automotive ally of Operation Warm with their new partnership. When you factor in past Subaru Loves to Help campaigns, they will have helped over 750,000 children and adults in need.
But Subaru’s commitment to caring goes beyond one initiative. They have an active, donation-based partnership with Feeding America to help Meals on Wheels deliver meals to seniors. Likewise, they’re partners with the American Red Cross; this year alone they’ve helped deliver meals to over one and a half million people affected by disasters.
